Chess Boards

This is a bunch of stuff done years ago
I'll try to find more AND better pictures of it,
I can't do wood work any more due to the way my back is at this point.
I'd really love to but
the standing , bending and movement NOW produces more pain than woodworking fun.

I loved playing chess since I was about 12 years old and
it was only natural that I eventually started making chess boards
Over the years , I have made varities of different types of boards ,
from very small ones to some that could be hung on walls .
The last couple years before I had CP ,I had started selling them.
I usually got between $100-$500 for a board depending on size , type of wood used
and whether or not I was making a single board or if I was able to make multiple boards at once. I still have a lot of wood waiting for the day my pain levels drop.
I still have about 6 boards that were almost complete when my back went and enough pieces cut to make 15-20 chess boards waiting to be glued up.
Some day maybe I'll try finishing the last 6 that are in my work shop ,
They need to be sanded , finished and the insides lined with felt to be complete.
They are actually some of the best I ever had made - both wood wise and craft quality wise.
Some of the boxes are made from TEAK , Birdseye Maple , Walnut and Red Oak.
Very beautiful and each unique in that none of the boxes are made the same ,
each was a unique type of molded wood design.

By The Way - I have a load of wood working tools to sell
If anyone is interested , email me for a list
MOST are "professional" quality and in very good shape.
I hope you enjoy these pictures, if you do , please let me know

The Chessboards Photo Slide show

This website and my photography are just beginning
BUT the wood working days have ENDED
More wood working photos will be added as I find pictures
There won't be new work added until my pain issues have been dealt with
at least to a point where I can once again stand to work in my shop
that is if I still even have a shop
A lot of the shop tools are now for sale and a list will soon be on the webpage
